Fried Food & Longevity - IRENE ANG FETES HER ROOFTOP HANGOUT’S FOURTH ANNIVERSARY. |
By Andre Frois
Offering a panoramic view of Ann Siang Hill’s party district, Fry Bistro was initially conceived as a modest project. Iconic Mediacorp actress and Fly Entertainment CEO Irene Ang opened Fry Bistro in 2012 as a low-key enclave where her mother, a talented deep-frying chef, would cook and where her friends could enjoy a variety of drinks and nibbles.
“Fry started as a place for Fly Entertainment artistes and friends from the industry to chill and also ‘hide out’. At that time, it was one of the rare rooftop view bistros, but slowly word spread and more and more people got to know about our little hideaway. It became a little icon on Club Street because it is uniquely small and cosy, everyone knows everyone - and we serve hearty local light bites like Auntie Ang’s Chicken Wings till late. It’s a great place for friends and family, whether for dinner, drinks or a place to chill,” shared Irene, who is best remembered for playing Rosie in Singapore’s internationally successful television series Phua Chu Kang.
“Turning four is a great success for all of us, from the bottom of my heart I want to thank Fry staff for keeping our customers happy, and of course to friends, family and fans. Thank you for coming back again and again to support our rooftop view and our hearty, happy meals. Eat already is 念念不忘 (Eat here and your experience will be unforgettable). I hope to keep Fry going on for as long as we can! Continue to support us and Fry ok?” Irene remarked in high spirits after popping champagne for the guests who graced her landmark anniversary.
FRY Rooftop Bistro & Bar can be found at 96B Club Street, 069464.
